Welcome to the Human Services Financial Health Professional Certification Program. This online course is one of several online components in this program. The topic of this course is Connecting Couples to Shared Financial Health. 

During this 13th section of the program, we’ll discuss facilitating conversations with couples regarding their shared goals, values, and perspectives about money, and provide you with tools to use with clients in partnerships, to help them develop a mutual relationship to the money they share. 

After taking this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Consider your own relationships and feelings about money
  • Set expectations, provide “rules” and other supports to help couples discuss money
  • Employ skills and a supportive stance when working with clients in conflict
  • Help couples explore personal and shared goals, and the barriers to successfully achieving those goals
  • Help couples understand the role of personal and shared values on financial behaviors
  • Work with couples to explore their assets, individual money styles, and money decisions
  • Explore internal inconsistencies with couples, and how they impact personal and joint decision-making
  • Provide education on debt, provide support for budgeting

 

This course is longer than prior courses in this program, because of the extent of the material it covers.
