Description

Welcome to the Human Services Financial Health Professional Certification Program. This online course is one of several online components in this program. The topic of this course is Achieving Goals and Managing Justifications. In this course, we’ll discuss how differences between our spoken values and our practice values lead us to experience internal inconsistencies. We’ll review the discomfort these internal inconsistencies cause for us, and the different justifications we tend to use to alleviate this discomfort. And we’ll talk about how we can manage justifications, come closer to our ideal self, and achieve our goals. We’ll review how these concepts can be applied to support our clients.

After taking this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Examine the ambivalence that arises from a difference between spoken and practice values
  • Recognize the feelings that arise from internal inconsistencies
  • Examine the justifications you use to return to a state of internal consistency

and

  • Employ a structured method to help us, and our clients, make a meaningful, workable plan to achieve our goals
